Fulbright Scholarship awarded to a YIFP fellow Dhaneesh Jameson

Since its inception, the Fulbright Program has awarded more than 286,000 scholarships worldwide and we are proud to announce that a YIFP fellow Dhaneesh Jameson has been selected to receive the 2012-2013 Fulbright-Nehru Scholarship of $80,000 to pursue his animation film-making studies in the US.

The Fulbright Program was established by the U.S. Congress in 1946 and remains the U.S. Government’s most prestigious scholarship program, operating in 155 countries. In 1950, an agreement signed between India and US established a bilateral Fulbright commission in India known as the United States Educational Foundation in India (USEFI). The commission has played a pivotal role in promoting educational exchange between the two countries.
 
Dhaneesh has to his credit various works such as ‘One Fine Friday’, nominated for The Best Animation short film at TBS - DigiCon 6 Awards, Japan (2007). It was also the Official Selection at PISA, Korea (2007). His mixed media animation film, ‘Wilson Pereira’ (2010) also won various awards such as Best Student Animated Film Award by IDPA, India, and was selected Best Indian entry at the 12th TBS DigiCon 6, Japan. It was nominated for best short film, Uppsala, Sweden,  best student animation at Animadrid, Spain and best student animation at Tehran International Animation festival. It was also the Official Selection at Shnit International short film festival, Europe in 2011. Dhaneesh hails from Kochi, Kerala and graduated from The National Institute of Design (NID) Ahmedabad in Animation Film Making. He dreams of becoming a full-time animation filmmaker.
