Team viSparsh rides to victory in Accenture Innovation Jockeys 2012 and wins the first prize, a trip to France!
Team viSparsh, Tushar Chugh, Jatin Sharma and Rolly Seth have again brought laurels to the Young India Fellowship Programme, this time winning the Grand Finale of the Accenture Innovation Jockeys competition. Accenture in partnership with Yahoo! announced the winners of the Innovation Jockeys contest in a glittering award ceremony held at The Leela, Bangalore, on April 24.
The hunt in its first edition this year began in January with a nationwide search in various university campuses for India’s most innovative minds. In the grand finale the team from the Young India Fellowship Programme, Team viSparsh won both City Category and the overall Grand Finale, competing against 1044 student entries from 500 colleges across India. Their innovation was a belt for the visuallychallenged, which is based on a series of vibrations that enable them to avoid obstacles. On winning, Tushar Chugh said, "It was great to be a part of Innovation Jockeys, and everyone here is a winner. ViSparsh is a fusion of vision and touch. We wanted to do something and help the blind, and we came up with this device."
The Grand Final prize was presented to Team viSparsh by Rekha Menon, Executive Director, Geographic Services, India and ASEAN, Accenture, along with bags filled with prizes from Apple including iPads and the team will be flown to France to visit the Accenture Technology Labs in Sophia Antipolis.
