Born in Ranchi, Aakarsh, spent his formative years growing up in Mumbai, Delhi, Muscat, Jammu and Trichy. He is a quintessential Indian with a global outlook.

An electronics engineer from NIT Trichy, he is an ardent believer in the power of entrepreneurship to spur change and homogeneity in society. At NIT, he enthusiastically participated in the activities of the Entrepreneurship Cell where he was instrumental in organizing Ventura, TED talks and workshops. As a member of ‘Informals’, he played a lead role in organizing the annual culture fest, ‘Festember’.

While at NITT, he interned with Bharat Electronics Ltd and Intel Mobile Communications, on their live projects, and then worked with Control Print, after graduation. However, he soon decided to chart a new path for a career in financial services industry. That decision brought him to a marketing role in the institutional business vertical of Kotak Mahindra Bank, where he learnt the importance of sales and marketing in effectively positioning products.  He believes this front-end managerial experience will stand him in good stead as an aspiring entrepreneur.

Aakarsh considers giving back to society important and has volunteered from time to time for NGOs like Action Aid and SPYM. He is an avid trekker and a guitarist with newfound interest in the folk genre. He follows artists like Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Led Zeppelin.

He feels strongly drawn towards YIF on account of its unique pedagogy, contemporary content and its globally reputed faculty and mentors. With subjects as diverse as public policy, valuation, mathematical thinking and psychology, he considers the program a perfect platform to learn about the complex workings of various institutions of society. He hopes to find his true calling during this much-awaited journey.
